Haji Ali Juice Center, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai.

I visited this Haji Ali Juice Center with family after many-many years.  The freshness of their creams, juices and shakes are still the same as was years back.

If I am not wrong this place was started sometime in 1960.  This is an iconic place in Mumbai for its variety of juices and cream based fruits or shakes.  This place even serve Sandwiches, Rolls and Pizzas. This juice center is located in Mahalaxmi Area of Mumbai near Haji Ali Dargah touching the sea face.  They offer quick service in Car.  As soon as your car stops near the shop, waiters will promptly take the order and place his identification card having tracking number on the rooftop of your car. No need to get down, unless you want to swipe the card. The area around the shop is not so clean.  They even have sitting area or tables inside their Juice Center.

I strongly recommend seasonal fruits with fresh creams and juices at Haji Ali juice center.

We visited this place after dinner while on a long drive to South Mumbai. We ordered rose flavored Kulfi Falooda, Strawberry Cream, Kiwi Juice, Orange Juice, Kesar Dry Fruits Falooda, Watermelon Cream.  All of them were very refreshings and delicious.  My daughters visited this place for the first time and loved all the juices, faloodas and cream fruits. All our orders were extremely good and refreshing.

The menus are reasonably prices when compared to the freshness and quality they serve.  It is must to visit place if you are in Mumbai and if you are a juice/shakes/falooda lover.

India Bistro Restaurant, Chembur, Mumbai.

I visited this Restaurant after long time.  There used to be a pub at the same place.  Now it has been converted to a Fine dinning restaurant.  This place has two sections.  One is China Bistro where you are served Chinese dishes and adjacent to it is another section India Bistro where you are served authentic Indian delicacious.

The ambience and service is good.  Its more spacious.

You have two options.  Either order from Ala Carte menu or from ALL IN ONE Biryani (Veg and Non-Veg) menu.  I opted for Biryani Non-Veg menu.  This comes with soup, five non-veg starters (veg starters are also served if needed), then the main course Biryani, Baraf ka Gola flavoured with Kala Khatta, then finally two deserts Gulab Jamun and Phirni.  All together I found this to be a good deal for 850/- rupees for one person plus taxes.

The Kebabs and the Biryani was excellent.  My favourite kebab was Basa Fish kebab.  Assorted Chutneys/Pickles are handy, available on the table.

The best dish I liked is Baraf ka Gola flavoured with Kala Khatta and served in a small baby pressure cooker.  And it tastes good too.

I recommend you should visit this Restaurant at least once.

Happy Eating.

Masala Library Restaurant, BKC, Mumbai.

Masala Library, BKC, Mumbai, is one of the best-super fine dining restaurant I have ever been to. The food they serve is exotic, impressively presented and the way staff explain each and every dish before serving is an great experience. It is heavily priced, but will surely like to go atleast once more. The location and ambience are very good but your wallet should be loaded before you decide to visit Masala Library.

I called them up to reserve a table atleast 8 hours before dinner, but to my surprise I was told that all tables are already reserved.  However they also stated that I can walk in and try my luck.  I walked in and I got a table for myself.

Their Menu has limited dishes but best in taste.  We started of with Bubble burster which cleanse our pallet.  I choose to go with the Signature Chef’s choice set menu rather than Ala Carte menu.  Signature Chef’s choice set menu had variety of dishes, starting with a soup, starters Lamb Chops, Prawn with curd rice, Kebabs, mini kulchas stuffed with veg and non veg ingredients, main course of chicken and prawns.  We ended our excotic food experience with deserts like Chocolate cage, Rasmalai, and pan flavoured candy flos.  You get a variety of dishes for what you pay when you go with Signature Chef’s Choise set menu.

The cutlery and crockery used here is unique and impressive to boost your appetite.

The service is very good and they attend to you very politely and were very prompt. We are huge foodies and love to try out new stuffs.

They also serve some innovative  Cocktails which you should definitely try.

It would cost around 6000/- Rupees for two inclusive of taxes for food only.

I strongly recommend that you should visit this Restaurant at least once.

Happy Eating.

Global Fusion Restaurant – Sakinaka, Mumbai.

We visited Global Fusion Restaurant to celebrate on of my friend’s Birthday.  This is situated at Sakinaka, Mumbai inside Times Square Mall on second floor.   It’s open from 12 noon to 3:30 pm and later 7 pm to 12 midnight.

As you enter the restaurant you are transported to a completely different zone.
I loved the ambience. It has the right amount of darkness and light. Gives a very intimate and divine feeling. The food is a buffet and they have a really good spread.
However we were dissapointed with the service and quality of the food.  Unlike other Buffet restaurants, Global Fusion has a different concept of serving starters.  We need to go the the Starter counter and pick up small chits on which the starters’ name are mentioned.  Pick them and come back to your table and wait for waiters to take these slips.  Then after a long wait, you are served starters on your table.  They have variety of starters on menu, but the only one I liked was Chop Kebab.
At 11:00 pm when we reached the main course counter, almost all the food was over and they were not topping up the buffets even though there were many people still waiting to have main course.  One such example was waiting for Mutton Ghee roast at buffet counter. We were told this dish is coming.  After multiple reminder and prolong waiting, a dish was topped up on thhis Mutton Ghee roast buffet. And to my surprise this dish was not the original Mutton Ghee roast gravy which was present.  The colour itself was different and taste too was not the same.  We complaint the Restaurant Manager and the Chef.  But they didn’t seem apologitic.
If you’re a sushi lover, you have variety of sushis. The portion size is not too much of starters.
The ambience is great, it’s huge and has a beautiful pond right in the middle with some pretty koi swimming in there. Also, the place being overcrowded most of them were over.
Another disappointment in the entire spread were the desserts.  They had a huge variety but lacked the taste. Also, the place being overcrowded most of them were over.
Overall, it’s a good place to visit atleast one and if you have a huge appetite, you definitely need to visit.  The cost for two would be around Rs. 3000/- during weekends.

Vaishali Restaurant – Chembur, Mumbai.

This is one of the most famous and oldest Restaurant in Chembur, Mumbai serving North Indian, Moghlai, Chinese, Mangalorian cuisine.  Vaishali Restaurant is my and my family’s favourite Restaurant, not just because of the best food quality but also for the finest decor and ambience.  I have been visiting this Restaurant for last 30 years and food quality remained the same.

This place has two sections non ac open air section and indoors ac section. Lit Candle was placed on the table in the open air section, which always gives a altogether different experience. The service is prompt and the staff is very courteous. We ordered variety chicken kebabs, Masala pappad and in main course a chicken gravy, apart from soup.  All the dishes were delicious as usual and portion was also good enough (value for money).  All Tandoor dishes are the best.

This Restaurant has a well made bar. Drinks are strong and well presented. The bar menu is indeed impressive for anyone who loves drinks. Also has a good banquet. Staff is helpful and courteous and service is good.

Good place to chill with friends and family. The Vaishali staff and team is well mannered. They also have playing live Gazals too in their open air candle light sitting.  It’s got much more to offer.
Dining for two would cost around Rs. 2500.  This place is open from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm and later 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Bombay Barbeque Restaurant – Pali Hill Bandra.

One of my very close friend’s daughter is moving to US for higher studies. What better reason to catch up with all my friends and families, bidding her good bye and best wishes.

We decided to go to this well know Restaurant at Pali Hill, Bandra (west), BOMBAY BARBAQUE, serving Buffet lunch and dinner. It’s open from 12:00 noon to 4 pm and from 7 pm to midnight 12:00.  Wallet parking is available.  Drinks are also served. Try to book your table in advance, specially during weekends.

We had non veg as well as veg course meal. Starters on point, my favourite was kebab, prawns and basa fish. Our 70% appetite was full with starters. Panipuri was delicious. Jelebi and Gulab Jamun was awesome.

However I felt that this place is very cramped/conjested with tables at very close vacinity to each other.

Barbeque nation is value for money.  Staff are polite and efficient.  Main course lacked flavour and was not so “vow”, though we had varieties which is impressive.  Barbeque range was also impressive.  They also served a vast variety of appetizers, paani puri, chinese stir fry (veg and non veg), pasta and pizzas.

Not to miss the dance by group of waiters which was great.

Ideally it would cost approximately 950/- for veg and 1200/- for non veg buffet dinner for One during weekends.

I rate this Restaurant 3.5/5.

Enjoy Eating.
