I learned this recipe from one of the cook books and tried it at home.  I baked this Chicken Puff Pastry filled with cooked chicken mince and other special ingredients.  Chicken Puff Pastry turned out to be one of my best dish.  It was healthy too as I used Whole Wheat Puff Pastry squares. The whole process is a bit tidies but its worth to take all the pain to cook this dish.  Specially children would love it.  My family loved it too.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Boneless Chicken Breast  – Half kg.
  • Readymade Puff Pastry square (easily available in supermarkets), preferably of whole wheat – Two to Three packets.
  • Onion – One big size sliced into fine pieces.
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbs.
  • Red Chilli powder – Half tsp.
  • Jeera powder – Half tsp.
  • Garam masala powder – Half tsp.
  • Chat masala powder – Half tsp.
  • Tumeric powder – 1/4th tsp.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Ginger – 2 tsp.
  • Garlic – 2 tsp.
  • Green Chilli – 1 finely chopped.
  • Tomato Ketchup – 2 tbs.
  • BBQ sauce – 1 tsp.
  • Mustard sauce – Half tsp.
  • TACO spice powder – 1 tsp.
  • Red Chilli Flakes – 1 tsp.
  • Cooking oil – 2 tbs.
  • Egg – 1 properly beaten.
  • Melted Butter – Half cup.

Method:

  • Cut chicken  into small cubes.
  • Take a Grinder.  Add chicken pieces in it, along with salt, Green chill, Garlic, Ginger, Tumeric powder, Red chilli powder, Chat masala powder, Garam masala powder, Jeera powder and Coriander leaves.  Grind all the masalas with the chicken into fine mince.  OR if you already have minced chicken, just add all the masala powders and mix them well.  Leave it for marination for about 30 minutes.
  • Take a deep Pan or Kadai.  Add cooking oil and heat it up.
  • Add chopped onions to hot oil and cook it until it becomes transluscent.
  • Add marinated minced chicken into the Kadai.  Mix it well.  Keep stiring it continuously until the chicken is cooked well.
  • Add TACO spice powder, Red Chilli Flakes, Mustard sauce, BBQ sauce and Tomato Ketchup into the Kadai.  Mix them well with the chicken for about 2 to 4 minutes.  then turn off the heat.  Remove the cooked chicken and allow it to cool.
  • Take the Puff Pastry Square. Brush the middle surface with melted butter.
  • Add cooked chicken mince in the middle of the Puff Pastry Square.
  • Fold the Puff Pastry Square and press all the sides with fingers of use a fork to ensure the chicken fillings doesn’t come out.
  • Brush the top portion of this chicken filled Puff Pastry Square with egg.
  • Make small cuts on top of the Puff Pastry Square.
  • Pre-Heat the Microwave to 220 Deg C.
  • Brush the base of baking tray with melted butter before placing chicken filled Puff Pastry Squares.
  • Gently place all the chicken filled Puff Pastry Squares on the baking tray.  
  • Keep the baking tray in the Microwave and bake the Puffs for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Crispy, fluffy, chicken puff pastries are ready to eat.
  • Sweet chilli sauce of Tomato ketchup goes well these puff pastries.
