Mani’s is a Pure Veg Restaurant recently opened its outlet in Chembur (East), Mumbai.  This is one of the oldest Veg Restaurant originally situated at Matunga, Mumbai, which was closed down and shifted to Chembur.

I visited this Restaurant with my family to have Lunch during weekend.  We had to wait (stand in the queue) for almost 25 minutes to get our table.  During weekends the waiting period is even more, sometimes.

Mani’s serve authentic South Indian (Tamil) Thali during lunch time.  They also serve ALL South Indian breakfast/snacks whole day long accept Lunch Time.  Mani’s opens at 7:00am and close down at 10:00pm.  They serve Two types of South Indian Thali namely first one is “Limited Thali” which costs Rs. 80/- and served on Steel plates and bowls.  In  “Limited Thali” you can top up specific items like chapati, rice, sambhar or vegetables at an extra cost of Rs.10/-.  Second is “Unlimited Thali” which costs Rs. 150/- and served on Fresh Banana Leaves – the authentic way – everything serve in unlimited quantity.  Credit or Debit cards are not accepted.  Cash only.

We opted for Limited Thali dish which had two dry vegetable, one gravy vegetable, rasam, sambhar, two chapatis, pappad, pickle, sweet dish (mysore pak or jangeri), butter milk and rice.  And of course we ordered extra toppings too with our Thali.  The food is authentic south India and super delicious.  We enjoyed every bite of this Vegetarian Thali.  Have butter milk  after food which help cleanse your system and also is very refreshing.

The ambience is good, but quite small.  The service is very prompt. Waiters are very polite and friendly.  The owner himself will come to your table and enquire about the quality of the food which is a good gesture.

If you are looking for authentic South Indian Vegetarian food in Mumbai, specifically in and around Chembur area, this is one best place to visit.

Happy Eating.
